To come up with a brand that will accurately represent the brand I wish to create, I knew there was some groundwork that I needed to complete first.

The steps which I followed before coming up with my brand were:

  1. Defining My Brand’s Purpose and Values
  2. Setting a Target Audience
  3. Market Research and Analysis
  4. Brand Personality
  5. Memorable Logo
  6. Correct Colour Palette
  7. Typography that resonates with personality
  8. Brand Voice
  9. Visual Elements
  10. Consistent Brand Story

Defining my Brand’s Purpose and Values

Here I started by defining my app's mission, vision and values. I needed to realise what helps my brand stand out from the others. What makes it individual… by realising my Unique Selling Point, I can make sure I know how we can stand out.

Brands Purpose & Values

Setting my Target Audience

Through the use of my user research, I was able to understand my main users. This makes it easier for me to understand what type of branding would resonate with them the most. Knowing their preferences, behaviours and needs makes the branding process simpler.

‘Dog lovers’ generalised is my target audience. However, I know that I want to represent the reality of owning a dog through my brand. I want it to be quite bubbly & jumpy, to have a lot of character. I also like the idea of making the brand personal to the user, fitting in the sense that each person is looking for something different. It would also represent the fact that no two dogs are the same, nor are they predictable.
