Week one was the initial introduction to our IxD501 module. We also discussed our first group project which we would be completing to help inspire more ideas. I have set up this notion to keep track of everything I am doing week by week. I find it is the most reliable tool to use for blog posts etc. and you can tailor it to your own presentation style.

Daniel discussed many ideation techniques through the slides, including mood boards & mind maps. I want to challenge myself to use new techniques for this project as I currently have no idea what direction I want to go in.

We completed some fun warm-up exercises and discussions to get the brain flowing, especially when we are all so used to being off for summer.

After this, we got briefed on a week-long group project which we were going to complete. The project is called 2050, because we had to design a digital product for the year 2050. The ‘Zeitgeist’ themed project, would allow us to push our minds into a forward-thinking mindset.

Myself, Caoimhe, Cara, Rachel and Sarah began brainstorming and coming up with ideas based on this brief:

‘In groups of 4 or 5 dream up a concept for a speculative future issue. Or even an issue that may be perceived differently in the future either ethically or culturally.’

Here is the work we completed…

I really enjoyed this project and think it was a really purposeful introduction to this module, as it got me excited about beginning my own project.
