Some of the happiest moments of my life have been because of my dogs. They have this infectious happiness and ability to make the hearts of even the most serious characters, (including my dad) melt and begin to speak in a puppy dog voice.
I picked up this book in this book in the pet store one day. It summarises all of the research completed by Dr Carri Westgarth about how a happy relationship with your dog can improve your life. It explains how we can train our dogs to become life partners allowing them to benefit many aspects of our life. This includes giving us a purpose, from the simple task of the daily walk. Fr
The most interesting part of the book was the aspects when she spoke of the improvement in people’s mental health. I for one stand by this and am a firm believer that a dog can improve your quality of life.
This book has inspired me to reflect on the positive elements of dog ownership within the brand and content of my app. However, I also want to explain that it doesn’t always just happen naturally. It takes time to train an animal and to earn their trust. I think this is a problem with some owners when they get a new dog, they don’t realise the patience and time it requires. Once the time and effort are put into the relationship, however, the rewards you get back from the love they give are worth every second of it.
This is a great book that I would recommend to any dog owner, especially those who may be struggling with aspects of training.
