One of the best ways for me to get inspiration for the features within my app is by looking at some of the current apps. Looking at other apps during the design process is beneficial for various reasons. It provides inspiration, helps understand user expectations, allows for learning from mistakes in other apps, keeps the design current with trends, enables competitive analysis, offers insights into usability patterns, ensures consistency, and facilitates learning new design techniques and technologies. Balancing inspiration with creativity will be crucial for me when creating a unique and user-friendly experience with Wishbone.
Initially, I took the inspiration for Wishbone from dating apps, such as Tinder, Bumble and Hinge. These apps allow you to explore people within your preferences. This is why I thought it could work well for prospective dog owners too. Most dating apps allow you to refine your searches and find people who are compatible with you based on your interests etc.

The best features in dating apps focus on enhancing user experience, safety, and meaningful connections. Key features include detailed user profiles, advanced matching algorithms, search filters, secure messaging tools, safety measures, geolocation matching, in-app events, integration with social media, user feedback options, subscription features, profile verification, and offline mode. The success of a dating app lies in thoughtfully integrating these features to meet the specific needs of its target user demographic. There is definitely a lot of these features that I want to integrate into my own app.

Airbnb's success is attributed to various features that enhance user experience, trust, and flexibility. These include transparent user reviews, detailed property listings, flexible search filters, instant booking options, comprehensive host profiles, secure payment systems, wish lists, host guarantee and protection insurance, smart pricing, 24/7 customer support, diverse local experiences, multi-language support, a host referral program, clear cancellation policies, and accessibility features. These features collectively contribute to Airbnb's reputation as a user-friendly and trustworthy platform for travellers and hosts worldwide.

Moving forward to designing my app, I would love to integrate features such as comprehensive host profiles. I also really like the simple UI of the Airbnb app. The map feature is very good and I also like how they categorise their accommodations. Overall, it is just a very easy app to use.

Location-based apps utilize geographical information to offer personalized experiences. Examples include navigation apps for real-time directions, social networking apps for location sharing, dating apps for proximity-based matching, weather apps for local forecasts, travel apps for recommendations, fitness apps for tracking activities, ride-sharing apps for booking rides, event apps for local happenings, delivery apps for ordering food, and augmented reality apps for interactive experiences. These apps enhance user engagement by tailoring content and services based on the user's current location. Prioritizing user privacy and data security is crucial for these apps.

I think I will include location-based features within my app as it gives users a more personal and also realistic opportunity to find a dog for them. It will also mean that people can support and be more aware of shelters near them.
